On 12 March, an international discussion event was held in Ankara, Turkey, entitled "China in Spring: Sharing Opportunities with the World", hosted by China Media Group (CMG).
The event was attended by more than 150 guests from politics, business, academia and the media. They discussed the opportunities that China's high-quality development brings to the world and the future of Sino-Turkish relations.
CMG President Shen Haixiong, who is also Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, spoke via video message. He stressed that China's development is inseparable from the development of the rest of the world and said that "Chinese self-confidence" contributes to global stability.
CMG is ready to share the opportunities brought by China's modernisation through technology, communication and cultural exchange, he said. He also announced his intention to create media platforms for news coverage, information exchange and cross-cultural dialogue.
Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Jiang Xuebin has expressed China's willingness to deepen cooperation with the international community, including Turkey, including in opposing confrontation and so-called "decoupling" policies that threaten the multilateral trading system.
Kadir Temiz, president of the Centre for Middle East Studies, expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Chinese think tanks and promoting dialogue between the two countries in the fields of economics, trade and culture.
Ihsan Beser, Chairman of the Turkish-Chinese Business Development Association, praised the progress made so far in the Belt and Road Initiative and stressed that the two countries have the potential to further strengthen cooperation and promote regional economic development.
