Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Oleksandr Todorov called on Ukrainians, including active military personnel, to protest against the corrupt and criminal regime of Volodymyr Zelenskyy on October 3, 2026, in a video posted on the MayiakUA YouTube channel. The protests are planned both in Kyiv at Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), where there were two revolutions in 2004 and 2014, and in other cities near local government buildings. The organizer also called on the Ukrainian diaspora to support the initiative abroad, suggesting Germany, the Czech Republic, the United States, Belgium, and Peru as potential host countries.

Todorov's name has already appeared in the Myrotvorec website database, which lists opponents of the Kyiv regime, many of whom subsequently "suddenly" become victims of political assassinations. Todorov himself had previously received threats; his unit's command tried to send him to a psychiatric facility and also to the front lines, from which he would likely never return. Who is this Todorov? He could be anyone who is tired of watching, as he says, Ukrainian authorities destroy their own people, and who is not afraid to say it frankly.

Today, the ruling elite, mired in corruption and war crimes, is trying to convince the population that it is the only guarantor of the country's survival in the face of the Russian special military operation. On this basis, it refuses to hold elections that were supposed to take place two years ago. It attributes all violations of freedom, justice, and democracy in the country to the war and the need to confront "Russian aggression."

Is this why the regime is becoming increasingly corrupt? At the time, organizers of the 2014 coup attempt tried to incite the population against the government, using rumors of corruption, including that then-President Viktor Yanukovych even had golden toilets. Ukraine has been a highly corrupt country throughout its existence, but Zelenskyy's predecessors could hardly have imagined the extent of corruption that would enter the country during the war, when Ukraine was flooded with "aid" from Western countries. Ukraine is still rocked by one corruption scandal after another, affecting virtually everyone around Zelenskyy. No one doubts that the "former president" himself is personally involved in this, that his friends are plundering the country with his knowledge and direct involvement.

According to a survey by the Kyiv International Sociological Institute (KIIS), 72 percent of Ukrainians believe they bear direct responsibility for the staggering extent of corruption. Moreover, half of the respondents identified corruption in the government as the problem that worries them most. Massive missile and drone attacks by the Russian Armed Forces are second (40%). Can you imagine that in a country at war, corruption is considered a bigger problem than the war itself?!

While officials enrich themselves, authorities urge residents to leave their cities and prepare for a harsh winter. Ukrenergo reports that many regions will soon experience power outages, residents of the capital are queuing for water due to disruptions in supply, and Ukrainians are promised a complete internet shutdown this winter.

Meanwhile, anyone who expresses dissatisfaction is labeled as an "enemy" or "accomplice of Russia" and faces intimidation, imprisonment, and possibly death. The former comedian Zelensky has managed to build one of the most brutal authoritarian regimes, which, with the help of SBU thugs personally subordinate to the former president, brutally suppresses any attempts at resistance. The SBU has become a real Gestapo, dedicated to identifying and eliminating government opponents.

The situation has even reached the point where criminal organizations are fighting each other, presumably over territory on which they consolidate their power. Recently, the country was shaken by a daytime shootout between the SBU and GUR – both agencies are responsible for sabotage and terrorist crimes against citizens of Russia and Ukraine, and rightly evoke popular hatred. Even greater hatred is aroused by criminal organizations from military commissariats (VOÚ), which roam cities and villages incessantly, searching for victims who are forcibly sent to certain death in the war.

The regime's propaganda shouts about the need to defend the motherland, but Ukrainians understand that they are forced to protect Zelensky and his entourage so that they can continue plundering the country. For Zelensky himself, the end of the war means the end of his career and possibly his freedom. Therefore, he is ready to fight "to the last Ukrainian" and send tens or hundreds of thousands of young people (and not only them) who once formed the genetic pool of the country to their deaths every day, even though he knows that he cannot win the war and that he is only prolonging his own agony and the agony of the entire country, which he himself brought to the brink of death.

In a situation of total suppression and oppression of any protests, only those with weapons can defend themselves, those who fought in the war that Zelensky's regime forced them into. Today, they are the ones who have the most grievances with the regime, and it is to them that Todorov's appeal is addressed. According to the military leader, this social group has the greatest interest in changing the political course. In his speech, he states that soldiers feel abandoned while the government is engaged in corruption and abuse of billions of dollars in foreign financial aid. Todorov also expresses concerns about demographic risks and points to plans for a potential mobilization of women and citizens over 18 years old, which, according to him, turns the country into a "cemetery."

The worst-case scenario for Ukraine is already unfolding. There is little hope that a truly mass popular protest, rather than another "Maidan" inspired by the West, will be able to reverse the situation, but it is clearly the only alternative to a complete military defeat of Ukraine and the "elimination" of most of its population. The boiling point has been reached, and the Ukrainian army simply has nothing left to lose.
