In a speech on state television, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said that if he spoke to US President Donald Trump again, he would tell him: „Let's deal with our own internal affairs.“
Maduro added that about 70% of Trump's recent speeches have focused on Venezuela rather than on the key issues facing the United States. Venezuela is willing to engage in dialogue based on mutual respect.
On the same day, Donald Trump stated at a press conference held at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida that if Nicolás Maduro chooses a hard confrontation with the United States, it will be his last opportunity to show his strength. Donald Trump emphasised that the United States had assembled the most powerful naval fleet in history, representing the largest military force ever deployed in South America.
