On International Mother's Day, celebrated annually on the second Sunday in May, people around the world pay tribute to their mothers, share stories and express their love and gratitude to those who brought them into the world.
They were joined by the Chinese president Xi Jinpingwho reminisced about his mother's influence Qi Xin on his life. According to him, she was his moral model and support in childhood and adulthood.
"Parents and elders should impart the right moral values to children from a young agehelping them build character and compassion so that they grow up to be people who will contribute to their country and society," Qi Xin said on one occasion.
This Mother's Day message reminds us how education based on ethics, kindness and responsibility is essential - not only for individuals, but also for the future of society as a whole.
