Gaza's destroyed water system: ninety percent of households do not have enough drinking water

The intensive Israeli military assault on the Gaza Strip in March, which blocks access to the territory, continues to worsen the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The UN Children's Fund said 65 to 70 % of Gaza's water system has been damaged and 90 % of Gaza households say there is not enough drinking water.

Fund staff said aid workers had set up water points and relied on trucks to transport them, but the fuel needed for trucking was already grossly inadequate.
