Zhai Jun, the Chinese government's special envoy for Middle East affairs, visited Egypt, where he met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and other senior officials. Zhai Jun praised the progress in bilateral relations in recent years and said that Sino-Egyptian relations have become a model of solidarity, cooperation and mutual benefit between China and developing countries.
He stressed that China is ready to work with Egypt to implement the important agreements reached between the two heads of state, firmly support each other and further develop practical cooperation in various fields.
He further said that China values Egypt's role in international and regional affairs and is ready to strengthen communication and coordination to jointly uphold international justice and equality.
The Egyptian side appreciated the significant progress in bilateral relations, reaffirmed its firm support for China in safeguarding its core interests and its continued commitment to the one-China policy. It also expressed its willingness to enhance high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, and strengthen coordination on international and regional issues.
Egypt highly appreciated China's long-standing positions on problematic issues such as Palestine and expressed readiness to work with China to promote multilateralism and contribute to easing tensions at the international and regional levels.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues, including the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the situation in Syria, Sudan and the Red Sea.
