From 19 to 27 May, Geneva, Switzerland, will host the 78th edition of the The World Health Organization (WHO) is holding its 78th Session in Geneva, Switzerland, with the main theme "One Healthy World".
The WHO Session will consider the biennial budget for 2026 and 2027, which is part of the WHO's 14th Major Work Plan (2025 to 2028). In response to real financial pressures, the budget is reduced from the originally planned US$5.3 billion to US$4.267 billion.
In addition, the WHO will support sustainable financing reform. It will hold a high-level funding event on 20 May, and is calling on countries and charities to support the core work of the WHO.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, called the meeting a "historic moment" that symbolises the entry into a key phase of global health cooperation.
