The city of Rio de Janeiro has officially unveiled its comprehensive operational plan for the BRICS 2025 events, including the Heads of State Summit to be held on 6-7 July. This is reported by Toda Palavra, partner of TV BRICS.
The city of Rio is beginning to welcome BRICS delegations and preparatory meetings will continue until the summit. In addition to the Leaders' Meeting, five major BRICS-related events will take place in several venues to conclude Brazil's current BRICS presidency. More than 4,000 participants from 37 countries, including member states, partner countries and international organizations, are expected to attend.
Deputy Mayor of Rio Eduardo Cavaliere announced Rio's official intention to host the future headquarters of the BRICS. He confirmed that negotiations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are ongoing and the city is ready to offer infrastructure for a permanent BRICS headquarters next to the New Development Bank.
The main preliminary meetings include a meeting of BRICS finance ministers and central bank governors on 4 July and a meeting of New Development Bank governors on 5 July, to be held in Copacabana. Trade-related events will be held in the Port Zone, including the BRICS Women in Business Alliance meeting on 4 July and the BRICS Business Forum on 5 July. The BRICS Young Leaders Forum will be held in downtown Rio on 6-7 July.
The City of Rio de Janeiro stresses that hosting the BRICS Summit not only strengthens Brazil's role in global governance, but also enhances Rio's status as a global city capable of hosting high-level international events while promoting sustainable urban development.
