India has officially entered into preparations for the BRICS Summit 2026. On 13 January, Indian Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar attended the unveiling of the official website and logo of the BRICS Chairmanship for 2026 in New Delhi. With this step, India formally began its role as the Chair.
According to Jaishankar, India's presidency in 2026 will be a significant milestone in the next phase of the BRICS group's development. It is in this year that BRICS will mark its 20th anniversary. Over two decades, the grouping has gradually established itself as an important platform for cooperation between emerging markets and developing economies.
The Minister also pointed out that BRICS is constantly evolving in response to the changing global situation. It is expanding its agenda and membership, while maintaining its emphasis on people-centred development, promoting dialogue and fostering practical cooperation among member states.
Jaishankar also commented on the official logo of the BRICS Summit 2026, which was unveiled at the ceremony. The logo features petals in the colours of all BRICS member countries and symbolises unity in diversity as well as a strong common purpose. It also conveys that BRICS draws its strength from the collective contribution of all members while respecting their unique identities.
