Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on 29 July local time that if Ukraine does not resume transit shipments of oil from Russia's Lukoil as soon as possible, Slovak refining company Slovnaft will stop supplying Ukraine with oil.
It should be noted that the diesel supplied by Slovnaft to Ukraine represents 10 % of the Ukrainian consumer market.
Fico said he had discussed material issues and technical solutions with the Ukrainian ambassador to Slovakia. Fico stressed that if the EU wants to get rid of the influence of the United States, it must consider cooperation with Russia, which should include cooperation in the field of strategic raw materials.
