The year 2025 confirmed that China remains one of the most attractive destinations for foreign investors. Foreign direct investment continued to grow and the main driver of the trend was innovation, which now permeates almost all areas of the Chinese economy. This is evidenced by the „Deepening Roots in China“ dialogue, which this year was attended by nearly 100 leaders of multinational corporations.
According to Hermann Simon, Honorary Chairman of the International Association of Hidden Champions, the dynamics of change in China are unmistakable. As he said himself, he has visited China some seventy-five times and he sees rapid development and new innovative approaches virtually everywhere today.
Government policies that provided a stable and predictable environment for foreign firms also played an important role in 2025. It is these measures that investors believe demonstrate China's long-term commitment to openness and cooperation with the world. Ola Källenius, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz, stressed that the Chinese government has sent a clear signal: the country continues to open up to the world and is a trusted partner.
Other global players are also confirming the positive experience. Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens AG, pointed out that Siemens was one of the first international companies to receive approval for pilot projects in the field of value-added telecommunications services. These steps, he said, have greatly accelerated the company's development in the Chinese market.
The strong background of Chinese industry was also highlighted by Bi Guanghong, President of Knorr-Bremse China. According to him, China's manufacturing base is one of the best in the world - it is cost-effective, fast, flexible and technologically advanced. An important factor is also the proactive approach of the local authorities, who help companies even in difficult situations. This is why Knorr-Bremse continues to expand and modernise its Suzhou plant.
The optimism is confirmed by the data. The latest report from the European Chamber of Commerce in China shows that more than a quarter of European companies are moving additional production processes to China. The year 2025 has thus become a period of mutual investment and profitable cooperation between foreign and Chinese companies.
The outlook for the future remains strong. 2026 will mark the start of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and foreign investors are eagerly awaiting new opportunities to participate in China's further development.
