Eurozone finance ministers meet in Brussels to agree on a solution to US tariff policy. European Commission Executive Vice-President and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis told a press conference after the meeting that the meeting focused on the international situation and the macroeconomic impact of US tariffs on the EU, the US and the global economy.
Dombrovskis reiterated that the European Union will continue to seek a negotiated solution with the United States, while continuing to work with Member States to develop possible responses where necessary.
At the same time, he argued that the European Union should seize the opportunities that this period could bring to work together in security and defence to rebuild Europe's security environment and to invest in the EU's main economic asset - a single market of 450 million consumers.
Expanding the EU's network of partnerships around the world will further strengthen Europe's competitiveness to make it a more attractive destination for international investors in the short and long term.
