According to preliminary data published by Eurostat on 7 January, the inflation rate in the euro area will reach 2.0 % in December 2025. Compared to November, this represents a slight decrease from 2.1 %.
Looking at the individual components of inflation, services remained the biggest driver of price inflation, with inflation at 3.4 %.However, even here there was a slight slowdown from November's 3.5 %. The second most significant item was food, alcohol and tobacco prices, which rose by 2.6 % in December, compared with 2.4 % in November.
