A new generation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers named Tianshan is due for delivery later this month, marking another milestone for China's high-end shipbuilding sector.
The ship is being built at the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai, eastern China, where construction is proceeding steadily and on time ahead of a scheduled delivery by the end of the month.
With a cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres, the ship measures 295 metres in length and 45 metres in width, with a deck area equivalent to three standard football stadiums.
Designed to transport liquefied natural gas at ultra-low temperatures, one voyage can supply gas for the monthly needs of approximately 3.3 million households.
