Chinese athletes have qualified in three relay events for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September 2025 during the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
The Four Liang Baotang, Mo Jiadie, Zhang Qining a Liu Yinglan ran a new National record 3:13,39 and took third place. Liang completed the first section in 44.91 seconds, giving China a promising start. Although Mo and Zhang were overtaken by Germany, Spain and Jamaica during the race, Liu was overtaken in the final stretch by Roneishu McGregor from Jamaica and secured China's advancement to Tokyo.
Because of the injury Liang Xiaojing there was a change in the women's relay. It was supplemented by Zhu Junyingwhich, together with Chen Yujie, Li Yuting a Ge Manqi ran the best time of this year 43,03 s and secured the victory and qualification.
China also succeeded in the men's 4×100 m relay. The newly formed team Shi Junhao, He Jinxian, Zeng Keli a Wang Shengjie replaced Xie Zhenye and Chen Jiapeng and ran seasonal maximum 38,03 swhich secured them a ticket to the World Championships.
The Chinese national team confirms its growing strength in collective sprint disciplines and will be among the relay favourites in Tokyo 2025.
