ABIDJAN, Sept 19 - Dynamic cooperation with China in the field of vocational training has deepened in recent years, helping young people in Côte d'Ivoire to meet the demands of the labour market and better integrate into society, said Ivorian Minister Koffi N'Guessan.
"Technical education and vocational training enable young people to acquire the necessary skills to enter the workforce and thus permanently integrate into social and professional life," said in a recent interview with Xinhua Koffi N'Guessan, Minister of Technical Education, Training and Apprenticeship of Côte d'Ivoire.
He appreciated the significant assistance China provides in the field of vocational training, which contributes significantly to enhancing the skills of young people. "Sino-coastal cooperation is really flourishing. The implementation of the AVIC International project is an example of successful cooperation," He said.
The project, which China launched in 2022, aims to build seven vocational training institutions in Côte d'Ivoire with a total capacity of approximately 6,000 students to be trained in various fields such as agro-food industry, air conditioning, general mechanics, livestock breeding, construction and public works.
The Minister said that cooperation with China has improved his country's educational infrastructure and provided the necessary resources to develop educational programmes that are tailored to the needs of the market. He stressed the importance of this cooperation in preparing young people for careers in key sectors while meeting the demands of a rapidly developing economy.
"Well-trained youth represent human capital that serves the national economy. A skilled workforce enables businesses to increase productivity and output, making them more competitive in national and international markets," He said.
The Minister said that this partnership represents a significant opportunity for his country, not only in terms of access to quality education, but also in terms of promoting sustainable development that paves the way for a better future for future generations.
"It is my wish that the youth of Côte d'Ivoire and China cooperate more through cultural exchanges, educational and training activities and technological innovation projects," he said, adding that the intermingling of nations helps to break down prejudices and facilitates integration.
The Minister also praised the successful holding of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC 2024) in Beijing. "This is a new opportunity for us to reaffirm our commitment to working with the People's Republic of China," he said.
