Event „Prelude to the gala evening CMG Spring Festival: The Whole World Watches CMG Gala Together“ organized by China Media Group (CMG), was held in Moscow and Brazil. The Spring Festival-focused event included the screening of promotional videos for CMG's Spring Festival Gala, a themed light show and interactive cultural experiences to bring the festive atmosphere of Chinese New Year to local audiences and promote people-to-people relations.
Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the PR department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and general manager of CMG, gave a video speech. He said that the CMG Spring Festival Gala is the most watched annual cultural event in the world, has been held continuously for 43 years, and has become a spiritual feast that appeals to Chinese people at home and abroad.
Shen Haixiong said that the Spring Festival is a cultural symbol of Chinese civilization that has endured for thousands of years and a spiritual link connecting Chinese people around the world. Nearly 20 countries and regions recognise it as a national holiday and about one-fifth of the world's population celebrates it in various ways. More and more people are getting to know China and appreciate Chinese culture through this millennial tradition, and better understand the universal values the festival embodies, including family harmony, social inclusion and harmony between man and nature.
This year's CMG Spring Festival Gala will leverage 5G technological innovations, 4K and 8K resolution and artificial intelligence, and make full use of its broadcast capabilities in 85 languages to present a spectacular cultural spectacle to audiences at home and abroad. CMG will also broadcast the gala through the „One Hundred Cities, One Thousand Screens“ project and hold „Prelude to CMG Spring Festival Gala“ events in many parts of the world, allowing global audiences to immerse themselves in the joy and festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival.
The event in Russia was co-organised by CMG and the Patrice Lumumba Russian University of Friendship of Nations. Zhang Hanhui, Chinese ambassador to Russia, said this year is the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership, the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, and the launch of the China-Russia Year of Education. He added that the Spring Festival's themes of renewal and harmony are well suited to the dynamic development of Sino-Russian relations. The CMG Spring Festival Gala has become a cultural calling card showing the development vitality, openness and inclusiveness of contemporary China.

Boris Yurievich Titov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Sustainable Development Goals in Relations with International Organizations and Chairman of the Russian section of the Russia-China Committee on Friendship, Peace and Development, said that China-Russia relations have reached an all-time high, underpinned by the deep friendship between the two nations. He noted that Spring Festival is celebrated by many people in Russia as well. He said the CMG Spring Festival Gala is not only a televised artistic event, but also a cultural phenomenon connecting the hearts of billions of viewers around the world. It is an important window for the international community to better understand China while showcasing its scientific and technological progress and achievements in national development.

Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, said the event „Prelude to the CMG Spring Festival Gala“ was included in the framework of the Sino-Russian Year of Education, reflecting the deepening of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Vladimir Mikhailovich Filippov, Patrice Lumumby, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian University of Friendship of Nations, said that the family values and traditional ethics that the Spring Festival represents are now widely recognized in Russian society and are becoming the cornerstone of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the new era.

Andrej Yurievich Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, sent a congratulatory message to the participants of the event.

During the event, Russian art troupes and Chinese artists performed together with a programme combining dynamic Slavic dances with graceful Eastern rhythms. There was also a special exhibition and interactive zone of CMG's cultural and creative products and demonstrations of Chinese New Year traditions such as New Year inscriptions, paper cut-outs, sugar paintings and ethnic costumes, which offered guests an engaging cultural experience.

At an event in Brazil, he said Zhu Qingqiao, the Chinese ambassador to Brazil, that the Spring Festival originated in China and gradually spread around the world. This year will mark the launch of the first-ever China-Brazil Year of Culture, which will accelerate people-to-people exchanges. He stressed that China-Brazil relations have historically been at the highest level and the building of a China-Brazil community with a shared future is gaining strong momentum.

Alexandre Padilha, Brazil's Minister of Health, said that Brazil-China cooperation in public policy research and health innovation has yielded rich results and created a solid foundation for cultural and technological exchange.

Joelma Gonzaga, Secretary for Audiovisual of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, said that film and television are important tools for mutual understanding of civilizations and the China-Brazil Year of Culture is a valuable opportunity to deepen cooperation in the audiovisual industry.

Rozana Naves, rector of the University of Brasilia, said the Spring Festival reflects the Chinese people's deep understanding of time, nature and social relations, and expressed her hope for expanding educational and academic cooperation.

Major Brazilian media reported on the event, saying it showcased the unique charm of Chinese Spring Festival culture and the fruitful results of audiovisual cooperation between the two countries.
