The global economy is also affected by newly introduced tariffs related to geopolitical tensions over Greenland. The United States has announced the introduction of new tariffs of 10 % on imports of goods from eight European countries linked to opposition to the US intention to buy Greenland. These tariffs could rise to 25 % from June, prompting a reaction from the European Union with possible retaliatory measures of up to €93 billion
The tensions around tariffs, along with ongoing acquisitions in the technology, media and industrial sectors, are creating an environment of heightened volatility that is being watched by both global investors and Czech export-oriented firms.
