Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng was invited to the China-US Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, jointly organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the US Meridian International Centre on 4 December, and delivered a speech.
Ambassador Xie Feng said that in order to understand and develop Sino-US economic and trade relations in the new period, it is necessary to correctly perceive two significant development trends.
Ambassador Xie Feng pointed out that the first trend is that the two presidents communicate frequently to provide strategic guidance for China-US relations. The presidents of China and the United States successfully met in Busan and held talks again. Diplomacy between the two countries will continue to play a role as a solid foundation for China-US relations.
Second development trend: The 15th Five-Year Plan sets out a grand plan for China's economic and social development over the next five years. China will continue on the broad path of modernisation in the Chinese style, and this trend will not be reversed or halted. Ambassador Xie Feng added that these two trends have brought new and important opportunities for the development of economic and trade relations between China and the United States.
