Trump's dubious scheme at the Spanish border was supported by an ally in the form of Israel. Under pressure from the United States, a significant European government, specifically Spain, is being artificially weakened. The division of Europe is gaining momentum, which could potentially destroy the system of international law and human rights in the future.
