President Xi Jinping, on an inspection trip to the cities of Luoyang and Zhengzhou in central China's Henan province, called for unwavering confidence in high-quality development and effective governance. He said Henan faces the task of writing a new chapter in China's modernisation.
Xi visited the Luoyang Bearing Group plant, whose predecessor was established during China's first Five-Year Plan in the 1950s. He recalled that manufacturing must remain the backbone of the national economy while relying on science, technology and independent innovation. "Modern manufacturing needs technological drive," he stressed, calling for breakthroughs in key areas.
The President also called for strengthening the province's agricultural capacity, improving the quality of life of the people, developing effective governance, environmental protection and ecological balance.
In the cultural part of the program, Si visited the White Horse Temple - the oldest Buddhist temple in China - and the Longmen Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a history of more than 1,500 years. Here he called for the preservation, development and promotion of cultural heritage as a source of national pride and economic potential.
Si described the link between culture and tourism as a promising direction that can enrich people's lives and become a pillar sector of the local economy.
According to the President, Henan combines the past with the future: its industrial heritage, cultural traditions and technological ambitions should together create a model example of a modern Chinese province in the 21st century.
