A recent article published on the New York Times website pointed out that the Chinese brand BYD surpassed Tesla in electric car sales in Europe for the first time in April.
According to the article, this reflects the continued efforts of Chinese car brands in the European market, as well as Tesla's ongoing difficulties with European consumers.
The article cites data from 28 European countries recently released by the Market Research Institute, which shows that BYD sold 7,231 pure electric vehicles in Europe in April, compared to Tesla's 7,165.
Although the difference in sales between the two is less than 100 EVs, Felipe Muñoz, an analyst at the research institute, still believes that this is a "tipping point" for the European car market.
